More Gross Discoveries in the World of Fast Food
The popular fried chicken eatery made headlines after serving a raw chicken sandwich to one of its patrons last fall, and this time the Huffington Post reports that there have been two incidents this month alone in which customers were served fried offal.
A picture of a fried organ (not for weak stomachs) that looks similar to one found a few weeks prior and determined to be a kidney was accompanied by this remark, “Got some KFC tonight, it tasted like death, peeled back the skin and this was inside.”
But why should this really shock anyone? The “food” served from these establishments is processed and extremely unhealthy no matter how you look at it. Even the word “food” is a misnomer when it comes to what they’re selling.
McDonald’s popular McRib, molded to have the appearance of a rack of ribs, is truly an amazing feat of modern engineering. These things sell like crazy, but you might as well be eating your shoe – far scarier than even the KFC offal.
The McRib is reportedly a “restructured meat product” that contains a combination of scalded stomach, tripe and heart mixed with salt and water in order to extract the proteins from the muscle. The proteins bind together to allow it to be remolded into a specific shape like the slab of ribs.
Time magazine reports that the sandwich contains 70 ingredients that include azodicarbonamide, a flour-bleaching agent used to make foamed plastics.
Why would anyone intentionally eat something like this, let alone pay for the pleasure?
Processed foods are some of the most highly inflammatory “foods,” considered to be the root of basically all types of illness and disease including cancers, diabetes, heart disease, depression, obesity and more.
While the offal surprise is definitely gross, by refusing to patronize these fast food establishments you won’t ever have to encounter it again, and you’ll be doing your health a huge favor.
After looking at the offal, do you really want to eat at another fast food place again?
