In case you were wondering how THC is so unbelievably good at killing malignant cells, the woman who first noticed the phenomenon explains how it works.

Spanish scientist Cristina Sanchez was the first to discover the medicinal properties of marijuana in the fight against cancer. In this fascinating interview by Cannabis Planet, she explains the plant’s therapeutic properties.

Sanchez discovered them by accident, noticing in a different experiment that the THC “was killing the [cancer] cells in the petri dishes.” Not only that, she says, but THC was “specifically targeting tumor cells…They did not have any effect on normal, non-tumor cells. As if that weren’t incredible enough, Sanchez adds that such is the power of marijuana’s anti-cancerous properties, the killer cells even started“committing suicide” when THC was present.

Marijuana‘s other main compound is Cannabidiol. This is not psychoactive, but does protect the brain from stress and damage. Cannabidiol also kills cancer cells, and makes THC all the more potent. As Sanchez explains: “The endocannabinoid system regulates appetite, food intake, reproducation, and many other functions. That’s why the plant has such a wide therapeutic properties.”

The winter of our discontent may be down to our genes. Not only do we get more coughs and colds in the chilly, rainy months, there are also more heart attacks and diagnoses of autoimmune diseases like type 1 diabetes. We may now know why.

The activity of some of our genes varies with the seasons throughout the year. The discovery comes from an analysis of blood samples from more than 16,000 people in both hemispheres. The most striking pattern was that 147 genes involved in the immune system made it more reactive or "pro-inflammatory" during winter or rainy seasons, probably to battle the onslaught of cold and flu viruses.

"This could explain why for some people with underlying disease, winter may be the tipping point," says Derek Gilroy of University College London, who was not involved in the research.

He points out, however, that we don't know if the immune system becomes more reactive in winter as a consequence of infections, or if it naturally gears up for action as part of a yearly cycle.

Either way, this change in activity seems to have unwanted knock-on effects. In the UK, for instance, deaths from heart disease go up by 20 per cent in the winter months. Explanations for this include direct effects from the cold, or respiratory infections putting more strain on the heart. But inflammation is increasingly being implicated in heart disease, autoimmune diseases and many other conditions.

It used to be common knowledge in consciousness circles that a person needed to be grounded both energetically and physically. People would talk about what foods helped them feel the most grounded, how spending time in nature helped them ground their meditative experiences and so on. Two of the adverse consequences of being ungrounded are that it can cause a person to be too easily swayed by the opinions of others, as well as be fooled by any of the many deceptions in our world. These are reason enough to put a consistent, daily focus on being fully present in your body and powerfully grounded to Earth’s core. I could go on and on about the pitfalls and dangers of being ‘spacey’, ungrounded, partially out of body, etc. but I will leave that aside for now, in the interests of keeping this article short…

Unidentified submerged objects (USOs) are not as famous as UFOs although they are often encountered, according to declassified Russian Navy records. The common trait of all USO phenomena is that they involve unexplained and technologically advanced objects, far superior to anything we’ve ever built.

The recently declassified documents contain Soviet era reports detailing many cases of possible USO encounters. Former naval officer and Russian UFO researcher Vladimir Azhazha believes these documents are of great value. During the routine operation, the submarine detected six unknown objects traveling in formation at speeds in excess of 230 knots (265+ mph). The submarine’s sonar determined the objects were heading straight for it so the captain gave the order to surface. The USOs followed them to the surface then flew away. Similar instances have been reported in the region of the Bermuda Triangle, as retired submarine commander Yuri Beketov recalls. On-board instruments often malfunctioned, indicating the presence of strong interference. Many believe this is a clear sign of USO/UFO presence.
